Creating Sellable Inventory (Variants)
After creating base items, you need to add variants - the actual inventory you can sell with specific pricing and stock quantities.
Understanding Base Items vs Variants
- Base Item: The general product template (e.g., "Samsung Galaxy S24")
- Variants: Specific versions with pricing and stock (e.g., "Samsung Galaxy S24 - 128GB Black - Main Store")
:::tip Think of it like this
- Base Item = The product concept
- Variants = The actual items you can sell :::
Accessing Variant Creation
After creating a base item, you'll see the Item Details page. This page shows:
- Product photos and information
- Attributes you defined
- A "Variants" section (empty at first)
- "Add Variant" floating button
Step 1: Add Your First Variant
Tap the "Add Variant" floating button at the bottom right.
Step 2: Select Variant Attributes (if applicable)

Pro Tips for Variants
- Create separate variants for different sizes, colors, or conditions
- Each variant can have different pricing based on attributes
- Track stock separately for each variant
- Set appropriate minimum stock levels to avoid stockouts
- Use consistent naming for variant attributes (e.g., always "Black" not "black" or "BLACK")
Example: Adding Variants for a Clothing Item
For a "Men's T-Shirt" base item, you might create these variants:
| Size | Color | Branch | Buying Price | Selling Price | Quantity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | Red | Main Store | 100 ETB | 150 ETB | 10 |
| M | Red | Main Store | 100 ETB | 150 ETB | 15 |
| L | Red | Main Store | 100 ETB | 150 ETB | 12 |
| S | Blue | Main Store | 100 ETB | 150 ETB | 8 |
| M | Blue | Main Store | 100 ETB | 150 ETB | 20 |
| L | Blue | Main Store | 100 ETB | 150 ETB | 10 |
Each combination of size and color is a separate variant with its own stock and pricing.
